Position Summary 

We are currently seeking qualified talent who will report to the Data Controls Manager and be expected to execute a number of Data Control Assurance activities in support of the EDM Data Controls framework and Standard. Will be responsible for operational execution of the Bank’s Data Controls Testing, Data Certification and Data Trace programs:

  • Support the testing of control operational effectiveness along the data journeys relevant to the production of all the Bank’s Regulatory Reporting and Business Analytics needs.  The role will be required to capture and document evidence supporting control risk assessments.

  • Capture and document evidence in support of the data certification process, which confirms adequate coverage and risk mitigation to determine if the data consumed is ‘fit for purpose’. 

  • Collaborate with reporting teams to formulate a risk-based Data Trace approach for sample-selection and develop a test plan based on KDE materiality which is aligned to reporting/consumption cadences.  Evaluate data gathered from multiple servicing platforms for analysis and will also design and develop automated scalable data trace testing solutions that promote reusability.

  • Additionally, will manage stakeholder engagements throughout the various assurance programs, to create visibility, clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, delivery timelines and will work with them to investigate root cause of issues.  

  • The position requires working in a virtual team and international environment as well as technical and operational teams. 

In this his role you will: 


  • Work with the Data Trace Team Lead to perform risk assessments and define the yearly plan for implementation reviews (documentation driven)

  • Support the management of the Data Certification framework across reporting, platform and geographies in scope, as reviewed from time to time by the Chief Data Officer

  • Perform the necessary steps to support the defined data certification process in coordination with Data Quality Team, the Issue Management and Resolution Team, the Data Operations Team and the reporting teams, as well as supporting technology teams

  • Document the certification results taking stock of all measures of quality, results of all controls, steps taken by the reporting teams and Data Operations to compensate for possible issues, known and unknown at the time of reporting, within the reporting cycle with the objective of providing a clear and complete picture of the data quality for the report in view of a sign off or formal attestation

  • Independently carry out tasks necessary to deliver data trace on agreed upon scope of work by coordinating with the relevant IT and non-IT stakeholders either autonomously or as part of an assignment team. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating data extractions, coordinating process reviews, coordinating requirements reviews with subject matter experts, comparing with sources of authority and other available internal and external baselines

  • Maintain policy for the Data Certification function as well as procedures, standards, workflows, framework documents and other relevant pieces of documentation describing the operating model of the team

  • Perform criticality assessment of findings, enabling prioritization and work with stakeholders in recommending possible remediation actions to be launched by the relevant team(s)

  • Maintain knowledge on the assigned regulatory report(s) with regards to changes in requirements, instructions, frequently asked questions, industry approaches and other sources of information on how to practically deliver reports in adherence to regulatory expectations

  • Develop and maintain knowledge on the BCBS239 guidance as well as the RaDAR program implementation so as to constantly adjust, as relevant, your activities to the approach promoted by the Group

  • Maintain knowledge on regulatory requirements with regards to Data Certification

  • Continuously improve the process by looking for optimization of workflows, automation and waste reduction with an objective of a high process performance defined as the lowest turnaround time  


  • Bachelor degree required

  • 7 – 9 years’ experience in risk, financial reporting or regulatory reporting capacity

  • Understanding of information governance principles

  • Solid knowledge of financial industry and related products as well as understanding of the general structure of a financial institution

  • Develops open, considerate and effective relationships with customers, external contacts and primary data consumer senior leadership

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with a distributed multinational and multicultural teams

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to prioritize and manage a variable workload

  • Effectively conveys the message in both written and verbal business discussions

  • Has exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines while delivering high quality results

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and SQL. SAS experience a plus)
