Job Description Summary

Responsible for strategic direction for policy office to ensure that Human Resources policies encourage managers to develop and utilize the best management practices to ensure a culture and climate that leads to team members feeling respected, empowered and understanding the guardrails and expectations. HR policies should be easily accessible, current, compliant and relevant.

Leads the development, implementation, monitoring of HR/employment policies & procedures. Develops best practices through engaging in a collaborative, customer focused approach, which motivates team members and managers, builds trust and buy in with key stakeholders. Operates in an advisory role. Reviewing and developing HR policies the Bank.

Essential Job Functions
  • Sets strategy for developing and communicating HR policies and procedures to team members and managers
  • Develops policy, and facilitate decision making and policy interpretation
  • Maintains the Team Member Handbook and guidance in an employee centric voice
  • Researches and recommends technology solution for disseminating HR polices; manager guidance and policy interpretation in a self-service automated solution
  • Maintains / keeps abreast of changes in HR Regulations and social climate in order to assess the need for update to policies and practices
  • Consults with appropriate stakeholders to consider and address potential implications
  • Day to day engagement with HR team to identify and develop key policy areas
Other Job Duties
  • Develops and gains support for new and revised HR policies, approaches and systems that balance the needs of legal compliance, good HR practice and the Banks business goals and priorities
  • Develops consistent practices, procedures and tools to provide guidance, and a consistent experience for team members and managers
  • Provides senior-level guidance to HR team members in the interpretation of policy
  • Partners with Learning & Development team to develop and deliver training as needed
  • Partners with legal team as needed to ensure policies and practices are in compliance with applicable federal and state and local laws and regulations
  • Counsels, educates, and provides consultation on HR policies and practices, Trains and serves as a mentor for new Advisors
  • Analyze trends, gain insights to recommend changes in practices as part of continuous monitoring
  • Manages projects, identifies key issues and assists the organization of the HR teams work

Required Experience
  • 10 years of relevant experience, including HR policies, procedures and practices 

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and administrative skills and a strong understanding of the communication avenues available to deliver this information
  • Technically proficient in terms of understanding the implications of employment law and have a good understanding of how people management works within the organization
  • Ability to influence, and building strong, inclusive, collaborative and healthy working relationships
  • Ability to take complex topics and make them simple and practical for people to understand
  • Ability to network and remain connected within the organization and the outside world so we can be proactive in addressing employment issues before they arise
  • Proactive in creating policy rather than reacting to problems as they arise
  • Ability to recommend and or apply appropriate action based on policy/procedure and or business practice
  • Ability to analyze data, trends and insights into root cause analysis and make recommendations based on data
  • Ability to maintain neutrality, and calm demeanor in tense/conflict-ridden situations
  • Knowledge of employee relations, workplace investigations, federal, state and local laws and regulations including but not limited to: Title VII, ADA. ADAAA, and FMLA
  • Ability to handle high-priority demands, prioritizing workload and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines
