Senior Lead Communications Consultant

Responsible for developing and executing the global communication strategy for enterprise communications or a business unit of Bank of the West. Partners with senior leadership and business partners to define communication objectives and leads efforts to ensure all communications are integrated and aligned with the bank's broader communication strategy and format. Tailors communications to diverse audiences, including all employees, managers and senior management, or within lines of business. Coordinates with others to reach audiences externally on social media and elsewhere.

This role is part of the Enterprise Communications team, responsible for telling our compelling stories to 10,000 employees throughout Bank of the West, as well as potential recruits. The team also works with international divisions that are part of the BNP Paribas family.

As a Senior Lead Communications Consultant, you are a seasoned professional who can provide wide-ranging, innovative strategies then roll up your sleeves to get the job done with limited direction. You may be assigned particular “beats” to manage, while looking for themes across business lines, functions and initiatives. You will proactively find opportunities, while also responding to requests from all levels of the organization with confident and informed counsel.

  •          Develops communications and engagement strategies for internal and external storytelling. Creates proposals, shares ideas and builds consensus with teams across Marketing and Communications, including social media, public relations, executive communications, brand, digital, channels and business lines.
  •          Develops communications strategies that include new ideas, potential channels for distribution and visual storytelling such as infographics, podcasts and videos. Work with others to ensure the final product meets the desired outcomes.
  •      Provides communications counsel to senior executives, subject matter experts and others across the company.
  •      Improves communications, and makes them happen.
  •      Identifies efficiencies to make improvements in process, speed and effectiveness.
  •      Develops metrics to measure success and makes adjustments for improvements.
  •      Manages high work load by prioritizing with a bias toward large audiences and sensitive topics.
  •      Develops templates and provides quick counsel as necessary to enable business partners with their own communications.
  •      Oversees stakeholder management and change management where needed.
  •      Supports and occasionally leads crisis and reputation management communications.
  •     Experience in executive, companywide and crisis communications for internal and external audiences.
  •      Experience with social media and visual communications preferred.

  • Capable of creating lively, engaging narratives.

  • Experience trying new ways of communicating and engaging. 

  • Outstanding writing skills.

  •  Proven skills as a strategic and thoughtful communications counselor.

  • 10 years of experience in executive, companywide and crisis communications for internal and external audiences

  • Experience with social media and visual communications preferred
