Senior Lawyer Litigation

  • Acting as primary point of technical coordination and follow up of all civil, administrative and tax litigation filed by or against BNPP Bank and Asset Management;
  • Ensuring a consistent and high standard quality of legal advice to the Head of Legal and also to other managers regarding details of one and all on going lawsuits;
  • Collect and store jurisprudence applicable to all products of the bank, spreading knowledge inside the Brazilian Group intervening in TACs and NACs with relevant advices on prevention of legal risks;
  • Organize meeting each quarter with Finance to confirm the level of accounting provision necessary for each lawsuits, taking into account the risks of losing such debates;
  • Attending to personnel and resourcing issues within the teams when necessary and supervising and mentoring direct reports;
  • Control, preparation and conclusion in the due time of all corporate documents required from the Bank and Asset Management by Brazilian laws;
  • Ensuring that internal legal policies and guidelines regarding litigation are understood and implemented organizing and, if necessary, providing training to internal clients and colleagues where appropriate; and
  • Coordinating with other senior lawyers within CIB Legal globally to share information, align practices and ensure consistent adoption of relevant group policies.

  • Legally qualified in Brazilian laws and jurisdiction;
  • Evidenced experience in litigation in Brazil is a must have for the candidate.
  • The perfect command of spoken and written Portuguese language is indispensable for the candidate, as well as proven experience in the management of legal proceedings.
  • Capacity to speak and write in English;
  • Self-motivated and confident individual, able to manage a large and diverse workload and interact comfortably and convincingly with all levels of management within the bank.
  • Experience/expertise in banking activities;
  • Capacity to read, understand contracts and propose changes for the best of the Bank interests;
  • Capacity of working both autonomously and as part of a cross-border team.
  • Able to deal with a robust and demanding internal client base, including by handling multiple matters simultaneously and by meeting tight deadlines when required.
  • Ability to foster team spirit and the pursuit of excellence in the assistance of business lines and support areas;
  • Previous management experience is essential.
