The purpose of this role is to support the ongoing development of pricing and underwriting capability using ProductWriter. 

You would be assisting the Rating Engine Manager in assessing, planning, developing, testing, and delivering Polaris ProductWriter Schemes for the various Cardif Pinnacle Product Lines.

This is a new position that sits within the Underwriting & Actuarial department, which will see the successful candidate working within in a dynamic and time-pressured environment supporting a growing team of experts in Personal Lines insurance, helping Cardif Pinnacle to successfully expand into new product areas.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will be:

  • To support the ProductWriter Coordinator in delivering the defined list of prioritised projects.

  • To produce analysis and impact assessments of proposed changes to live schemes.

  • To accurately design, develop, and test pricing and underwriting requirements received for processing.

  • To produce Technical Specification and Test Plan Documents relating to a development.

  • To undertake assigned projects and updates in a timely, efficient, and cost effective manner.

  • To provide adequate support to all business areas when schemes are issued, and are in the process of being tested prior to release in the ‘Live’ environments.

Knowledge and skills:

The successful candidate will have the following skills;

  • Understanding of good design principles and good coding practices.

  • A logical aptitude, with strong problem-solving skills.

  • A strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including mid-level formula familiarity and use.

  • Proficient in writing both technical and business focused documentation.

  • The ability to cater their communication style between non-technical and technical employees.

  • Comfortable working within a dynamic, fast paced, working environment.

  • Will actively promote professional working relationships with internal departments.

  • Embraces opportunities to develop and learn new skills.


The successful candidate should have the following essential skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in Visual Basic, SQL, Java, Python, or similar programming languages.

  • An interest/understanding of general insurance.

The successful candidate may also have the following desired skills:

  • Previous ProductWriter programming experience.

  • Understanding of XML data structures.

  • Understanding and Experience of Regression, UAT, and Batch testing processes


The successful candidate should have one of the following qualifications:

  • Computer Science or IT related Degree or Certificate of Higher Education.

  • Previous experience of working within a development team, producing executable code.
