Position Details


We are looking for a Manger within our Middle Office department, the purpose of the role is to lead and manage service delivery within your team ensuring client commitments are met

Department purpose  

The Middle Office Department exists to provide administration activities which support our clients start of day position:

  • Client Reporting
  • Corporate Actions
  • Income
  • Reconciliation
  • Trade Processing
  • Treasury

Key Responsibilities of the role:


Client Service Delivery and controls

 
  • To ensure a high quality client service is delivered to all clients
  • Ensure service level provided by the team adheres to the client service delivery agreements
  • Development and agreement of client service level agreements from an operational perspective
  • Ensure adherence and development to core standard operating models
  • Provide assistance with marketing and client development and be an ambassador for BNP Paribas
  • Build strong, professional relationships with clients at all levels within the team
  • Develop internal stakeholder relationships with the wider Middle Office team as well as general business support including but not limited to Fund Accounting, Product, Human Resources, Client Development, Compliance
  • Ensure external counterparty relationships are strengthened with Brokers, Custodians & Industry bodies

Continuous Improvement & New Business

 
  • Develop and implement improvements to systems and processes in support of client requirements and BNP Paribas Securities Service strategic objectives
  • Develop and implement resilient processes and systems to support new/changes to business products including mandatory changes to market/governance and regulations
  • Create an environment where the team are confident to challenge the status quo and innovate within the governance and framework of our change program

Risk Management

 
  • Ensure the risk and control framework is adhered to in order to manage risk effectively & efficiently within the team
  • Ensure compliance with and adherence to the middle office governance structure and department procedures
  • Ensure effective participation in business contingency plan tests
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are in place to mitigate operational risk
  • Ensure that internal and external audit/compliance/risk requirements are met

Budget Management

 
  • Support Head of Department in managing the relevant cost centre budgets ensuring head count and expenses are in line with budgeted allocation
  • Support Head of Department in delivering improved productivity improves with each 6 monthly release of unit costs

Staff Management and Development

 
  • Ensure all staff have the required skill, expertise and knowledge in order to perform their role
  • Ensure that resources and skills are utilised to their full potential
  • Appropriate management and supervision of all staff
  • Motivation of staff to ensure engagement at all levels within your team
  • Ensure sufficient people development and staff training is in place to maximise performance; this includes providing regular feedback on performance and escalating to HR when appropriate
  • Setting SMART objectives for your team
  • Ensure appropriate T&C oversight within your team
  • Ensure HR policies and guidelines are adhered to within the UK Service Delivery perimeter

Strategy and Governance

  • Contribute to raising the profile of the UK branch of BNP Paribas Securities Services.
  • Ensure knowledge of new market initiatives & governance and recommend evolution of products.
  • Contribute to Global initiatives across the functions to deliver Target operating models
  • Maintain necessary governance framework across Global Locations.  

Skills and Experience required

Competencies required for the role:

  • Essential:
    Managing multiple teams in Investment Operations
    Strong Risk Management awareness
    Background of driving innovation and delivering change
    Experience in key change activity such as fund mergers, custody changes
    Strong Client Service Skills
  • Desirable:
    Industry knowledge and understanding of Middle office processing function
