IBA - Business Management - Senior Business Manager

Senior Business Manager position for Investment Banking APAC ("IBA"), reporting to IBA Chief Operating Officer.

 The IBA platform is organized into Integrated Sector teams (Energy Natural Resources Projects & Export, Transportation, Telecom Media Tech., Real Estate and FIG), Products teams (ECM, DCM Origination, Loan Capital Markets and Strategic Hedging Advisory, General M&A and Transaction Group) and Geographical Coverage teams across APAC.

The Senior Business Manager will be a key enabler/driver to the IBA platform and ensure smooth communication and partnerships with all stakeholders including with other business lines, Territory Management, Finance, ITO, HR, Brands & Communications, Compliance.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Financial Monitoring:

  • Lead the budget process end-to-end for the IBA platform (Managed Revenues, Clients Revenues, RWAs). Key responsibilities include ensuring timely collection of inputs from IBA teams, ensuring accuracy and consistency of the overall output, assisting the IBA business heads to formulate their budget, acting as point of contact with Finance and GCS.
  • Monitor IBA financial performance and resources on a periodic basis including revenues, direct and indirect costs, cost of risk, RWA, liquidity, headcounts and produce high quality periodic and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Lead invoicing for IBA advisory transactions in collaboration with IBA Teams, Finance and Tax
  • Coordinate the periodic reviews of outstanding invoices, provisions, reviews of suspense accounts with Finance and other relevant teams
  • Coordinate the booking of structured financing transactions with IBA teams, Operations and Finance
  • Coordinate the Country Envelop process with the IBA teams, and other relevant team

2. Governance:

  • Ensure IBA Governance is operational
  • Lead the organization of the IBA Committees including monthly Management Committees, ad hoc Mandate and Underwriting Committees etc. and oversee the preparation of the minutes of these committees
  • Lead the preparation of the IBA Management Committee presentations and coordinate pipeline contributions from the IBA Teams
  • Coordinate with OPC and IBA teams for the organization and preparation of TAC / NAC
  • Support in the timely coordination and follow-up on internal / external audits in collaboration with OPC and other relevant teams

3. Solutions to support business activity:

  • Lead/Contribute to transversal projects in relation to KYC, Credit, IT projects etc. for IBA
  • Manage the IBA SharePoint
  • Manage issues relating to liquidity, transfer pricing, information flow, IT systems etc. in relation to IBA activities as and when needed in collaboration with IBA Teams, Finance, Tax etc.
  • Coordinates external and internal events for IBA in collaboration with Brands & Communications including supporting IBA Management in the preparation of IBA Townhall / Seminars on an ad hoc and periodic basis in collaboration with Brands & Communication

4. Business Development and Strategy Implementation

  • Be solution driven and make recommendations to enhance IBA processes, reportings, market monitoring and league tables monitoring
  • Drive key strategic initiatives and projects for IBA (including ad-hoc assignments, partnerships / bridges with other métiers)
  • Produce ad hoc studies / reviews on strategic initiatives for IBA Management
  • Support IBA teams in their prospection activities, through client mapping exercises, benchmarking and other activities
  • Play a role in facilitating and enhancing internal communication within IBA organization

There could be management responsibilities depending on the profile of the candidate.

Competencies (Technical / Behavioral)

  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of financial concepts (accounting, performance management, tax)
  • Knowledge of Finance / Operations processes and systems
  • Knowledge of BNPP APAC CIB set-up
  • Experience in project management
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel including data mining abilities, usage of pivot tables etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced business environment, on various projects at the same time and under tight deadlines
  • Prior experience in managing a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong sense of teamwork
  • Reliability and integrity
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Cantonese and Mandarin are a plus

Specific Qualifications Required

  • Over 8 years of experience in corporate banking
  • Prior experience in Business Management is a plus
  • Prior experience with Investment Banking business / activities is a plus
  • CPA is a plus
