Job Description Summary
Responsible for managing analytics and reporting specifically in the area of Regulatory Reporting across Risk and Finance organizations within the Enterprise Data Management and Solutions group. Includes the oversight of data sourcing, any manual data enrichment, generation of the final dataset, validation of output to ensure accuracy, logging any needed adjustments / overrides to address ‘data quality issues’, and final submission upon business line approval to the Federal Reserve Board and / or other Regulatory groups. Supports, develops, and evaluates opportunities for automation, streamlined quality validation processes/procedures, improve data sourcing to support reports, and identifying opportunities for efficiencies.
Essential Job Functions
Manages and coordinates the delivery of Regulatory Reporting across both Finance and Risk business lines (e.g. production of data to support the reporting rollups needed, the manual processes to source data not available through automated sources, validation of the end results before engaging the business)
Leads and manages the requirements of any changes to the data sourcing, data conformance, data comparison processes that support Finance and Risk Regulatory reports. Responsible for identifying ambiguity in requirements and elicit appropriate level of details, ensuring comprehensive validation of data flowing into the reports, and adherence to best practices.
Develops and communicates an effective methodology for Regulatory Reporting generation, as well as related measure and reporting around data issues and adjustments.
Provides analytical support of service results, including process improvement analysis, identification of issues, identification of potential solutions to issues, and escalation/follow-through for short-term and longer-term issue resolutions.
Collaborates with various partners to identify and prioritize topics to investigate and determine data required to adjust to on-going changes in Regulatory and Risk submissions.
Provides on-going support for reporting production activities.
Ensures appropriate documentation, process flows, run-books, etc. exist and are maintained for each Regulatory Report that meet the standard required by the Target Operating Model outlined by parent company.
Conducts analysis and performance measurement to support key initiatives.
Evaluates automation and testing toolsets that could improve / automate activities with higher quality and faster delivery.
Advises on the resolution of complex analytical and data integrity problems while prioritizing multiple tasks.
Identified and recommends business, technology, and process improvement opportunities.
Manages special/short-term/ad-hoc project with minimal guidance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires broad management knowledge in order to manage operational and business analyst team members.
Experience with data processes, sourcing of data, conformance of data, and/or related data quality improvement efforts.
Experience with control frameworks that accompany typical banking data environments, administration of them, and deep knowledge of ‘data management’ practices.
Required 10-12 years minimum prior relevant experience.
Requires 10 years of SQL experience in either Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or Teradata.
Requires 5 years of experience in ‘Data Operations’ and / or ‘Data Management’ disciplines specifically.
Experience and knowledge of the capabilities that common reporting platforms provide like Micro Strategy, OBIEE, etc.
Bachelor’s degree and/or extensive relevant experience with emphasis in banking product/risk disciplines.
Must be highly analytical and highly detail oriented.
Extensive knowledge of banking industry and related products and services.
Extensive knowledge of banking data environments – methods and approaches to sourcing data, conforming data, executing quality programs against that data.
Strong understanding of the U.S. banking industry dynamics, bank financial reporting, and banking-oriented research sources.
Excellent analytics, communication, and problem-solving abilities in Data analysis and/or Database skills.
Ability to code SQL (experience in at least one of the following: Oracle, Microsoft SQL, Teradata)
Extensive experience with MS office products including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
