MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

·         This role is a position within the Electronic Markets Application Production team in Montreal which is part of the APS group (Application Production & Support). This is a global team providing services to the Forex, Rates, Credit, eCommerce and Commodities businesses within BNP Paribas CIB Global Markets.

·         The team provides application support for all components running on eTrading and eCommerce environments (more than 1000 servers - Windows, Linux or UNIX).

·         The team also manages connectivity to more than 20 electronic trading venues (ICAP/EBS, Reuters AutoQuote/FIX/RFA, Currenex, HotSpot, Eurex, NYSE Euronext Liffe, CME, Brokertec, EurexRepo, eSpeed, , EuroMTS, MarketAxess) 

·         Supported systems are mainly installed in London, New York, Tokyo and Singapore and most of them are running 24/5. 

·         Systems are complex so as part of support activities the range of technical skills involved is wide.  All team members are expected to quickly develop, or already have, a good understanding of eTrading and eCommerce systems. Each engineer in the team has applications (mainly proprietary software) and technologies allocated to them and they are expected to be, or quickly become experts in these areas. Occasional weekend work is required, usually at weekends.

JOB SPECIFICATION

·         Day-to-day management of production: monitoring, capacity management, problem resolution activities and change management

·         Shift pattern is usually 10:00 – 19:00

·         Responsible for efficient resolution of issues to minimize impact to clients and internal users including liaising with end users, team members, management, vendors and other internal IT teams

·         Assist in the development, design and implementation of technical support systems

·         Perform activities related to implementation and rollout for upgrades of existing services

·         Work closely with development teams, business analysts, architects, all infrastructure teams to design and setup new systems, improve existing platforms (Resilient, high availability, performant and low-latency)

·         Coordinate and organize changes with external vendors, markets and exchanges

·         Plan, schedule, implement and document the change activities.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

·         5+ years of experience

·         Strong all-around IT background, experience in electronic trading markets on similar environments

·         Strong understanding of Microsoft and Linux operating systems and IIS application servers to be able to tune operating systems platforms for optimum performance

·         Ability to work and deliver in stressful environment.

ESSENTIAL SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS 

·         Ability to follow and adapt complex processes to resolve issues quickly and accurately

·         Good understanding of network and firewall concepts

·         Good understanding of web technologies

·         Proven project management skills to deliver small & medium scale projects

·         Ability to analyses network captures

·         Scripting (Python, PERL, Shell, SQL) and development skills for administration, monitoring and support tools would be useful.

·         Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to quickly and accurately assess trouble areas in a wide variety of infrastructure and application environments

·         Team player.

·         Self-starter attitude and willingness to get involved in a wide variety of tasks

·         Detail-oriented and organized

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Capable of prioritizing tasks and multi-tasking projects

·         Flexible and adaptable to new environments

·         Quickly learn new systems/products.

  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
