Business Overview:

 
As a Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for Global Markets and Global Banking, this position will support the businesses that are aligned to our front office functions, and will align people and organizational strategies to business strategies and objectives while applying the appropriate level of confidentiality.
This position manages a team of five HRBPs and one HR Advisor.  Our HRBP’s help drive the understanding and adoption of HR programs, managing the execution of program activities for assigned clients.  They support the HR service delivery model and facilitate broader HR support from HR Centers of Excellence (COEs).
This position reports to the Head of Human Resources for the Americas, and will be part of the Americas HR Executive Team (HRMT).
 
 

Responsibilities:

 
This position will support clients with both Global Markets and Global Banking, while exemplifying the three core pillars of HR strategy with include Strategic Partnering, Commercial Added Value and Excellence in Administration.

Strategic Partnering:

  • Partner closely with senior leaders to establish credibility as a trusted advisor to influence and support key strategic and operational decisions
  • Understand the operating model for covered clients, and assess impact of any changes on existing talent
  • Facilitate development and execution of talent strategy with covered clients
  • Identify HR’s contribution to realizing clients objectives and leverage HR services or programs to suit the needs of covered client(s)
  • Facilitate career management and planning in alignment with Group policies
  • Execute structured relationship management cadence to maintain relationships and communication channels  
  • Facilitate organizational change management and help leaders to align communication, behavior, and infrastructure to support the desired changes
  • Mitigate risk by ensuring appropriate escalation / investigation of performance, conduct and other ER related matters
  • Partner closely with the Director of HRBPs for Group & Corporate Functions, and with our HR colleagues within Canada and LatAm

Commercial Added Value:

  • Support clients’ coverage and identify emerging talent issues before they impact the clients strategy fulfillment
  • Understand market forces and business strategy, and translate those requirements to talent-related requirements
  • Assess employee attitudes and track trends in employee behaviors through tools such as the GPS survey
  • Leverage employee feedback and/or interviews to maintain or build awareness of covered population, issues and challenges
  • Leverage HR COE teams as relevant to conduct assessments
  • Socialize hypotheses with recommended actions and options for remediation with client leaders
  • Continually assess the HR implications of client-driven strategic options and proactively communicate with Management
  • Support the business / function unit's talent interests within the HR organization

Excellence in Administration

  • Identify and provide critical metrics to clients in order to assess and measure impact and results
  • Partner closely with Compensation team and clients to ensure compensation decisions are closely reviewed, and are aligned with employee performance.
  • Promote and leverage new technology, such as AboutMe and HRConnect, which are both tools for managers and critical to efficiency
  • Assess employee attitudes and track trends in employee behaviors through tools such as the GPS survey
  • Support HR initiatives across calendar year and keep the line up to date on forthcoming initiatives
  • Partner closely with HR Analytics and HR COO teams to ensure the data is updated and maintained on a timely basis
  • Facilitate the adoption of HR policies and practices and educate leaders and managers regarding HR capabilities
  • Participate as required with internal, external and government audits
  • Support ‘One HR’ culture, mutual accountability and respect within HR team
 
 
 
 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, with related industry experience, ideally supporting front office functions.
  • Experience leading projects and helping to foster/create a positive working environment
  • Experience designing, building and implementing HR functional programs, policies, tools and procedures
  • Experience of successfully managing multiple priorities & projects through successful delivery and implementation under time, budget and political pressure
  • Proven success in working in a fast-paced growing business environment
  • Experience working collaboratively to facilitate the delivery of HR support in numerous locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to partner and lead specialty functions of Human Resources (e.g., compensation, learning & development, mobility, employee relations) desired with a mix of operational, strategic and systems thinking experience
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks, organizations and ongoing community involvement
  • Experience working with a service delivery model that includes COEs
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Management, Organization Development or related field
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP desired
