Position Summary

Bank of the West's Intelligence Analyst position conducts intelligence analysis to identify, monitor, assess, and help mitigate the threat posed by cyber actors against the Bank's information systems, critical infrastructure and cybersecurity interests. These efforts support the Bank's Security Enterprise and other equities along with strategic assessments and provide tactical analysis and advice. The Intelligence Analyst II position will apply their geopolitical and cyber knowledge to solving complex intelligence problems, developing written assessments, and integrating synthesized intelligence information in to all key areas across the Bank's Security Enterprise. This work demands initiative, analytical skills, and technical expertise while working to maintain and broaden their professional expertise through approved training, collaboration with peers, and attendance at professional meetings/conferences.

 This role:

  • Responsibilities include overseeing analysis and reporting on cyber threats to Bank of the West, primarily in support of the Bank’s Intelligence Fusion Center mission.
  • Collect, research, and analysis of cyber, geopolitical, and other intelligence-related data from a variety of sources to identify and evaluate patterns, and trends; preparing analysis and mitigation strategies from findings; interpreting and providing statistical information, via written and verbal presentations for key Bank stakeholders.
  • Assists Senior Intelligence Officers with research, review, edits, plans, preparation, integration and publishing of in-depth cyber intelligence studies, plans, and/or products on behalf of the Bank.
  • Helps manage the External Intelligence Team’s overall efforts to plan and execute the assigned task.
  • Provides current and accurate information on emerging events and trends that could impact Bank of the West tactical and strategic customers, from senior leaders to counterparts across and outside of the Bank.
  • Provides analytic and technical assessments of threat actors’ capabilities, intent, and strategic threat implications, and integrate comments from external partners and information feeds.
  • Conducts data extraction, parsing, manipulation, and storage; quantitative and qualitative analyses based on the large volume of data.
  • Prepares reports that present findings, cite applicable policies, identify causative situations, and recommend corrective actions.
Other Job Duties
  • Supports the Senior Intelligence Officers on related ad-hoc tasks, Security initiatives and other projects.
  • Researches and writes on current intelligence related to potential cyber threats, plans, and activities that directly affect the Bank’s cybersecurity mission.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and integrates valid intelligence while ensuring timely, comprehensive and accurate response. Identifies intelligence gaps, specifies collection requirements to fill gaps in information, evaluates resulting intelligence collected in response to requirements and determines analytical approach. Incumbent collaborates with other analysts and collectors at external partner organizations on intelligence analysis related matters.
  • Identifies significant trends within assigned subject-matter area and proposes new or revised analytical projects to alert decision-makers to new developments and to meet customer requirements. Develops and/or recommends complex analytical approaches to problems and situations for which data are incomplete, controversial, or for which no precedent exists.
  • Provides multi-intelligence analysis and fusion analysis integrating existing open-source products and databases to provide an enhanced level of information support.
  • Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders to understand data-driven processes and strategy.
  • Identifies relationships, trends/patterns in, or draws conclusions from assembled information using analytical principles, methodology, and statistical analyses.
  • Consults with other intelligence analysts and counterparts in Security to optimize production in response to requirements. Based on analysis of all available information, identifies gaps and recommends collection requirements.
  • Develops and maintains liaison with counterparts within Bank of the West and other partner organizations to discuss and coordinate intelligence production.
  • Maintains currency in both foreign and domestic advances and developments that relate to, or have a potential impact on, assigned subject-matter area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Experience

  • Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Requires 5 years minimum prior relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree Security studies, intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, business analysis or a mix of international and technical studies.

  • Requirements: Provide expert Intelligence Analysis in the collection, control and dissemination of intelligence information.
  • Anticipates problems and obstacles associated with moderately complex projects and proactively develop creative solutions to address them prior to implementation.
  • Cyber intelligence analysis experience required; documented experience conducting analysis of foreign nation state or military’s cyber capabilities in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
  • Serve as a mentor to entry-level intelligence analysts.
  • Strong writing skills with knowledge and understanding of intelligence analysis writing style (clear, effective, and brief).
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical tools/processes, Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access) and computer tools common to the IC, including Analyst Notebook, and Palantir; experience in research methods related to the social science discipline (quantitative, qualitative, and evaluation research).
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex documents.
  • Knowledge of the application of a professional discipline such as international relations, current history, military science or political science.
  • Experience interpreting data, information, and issues to formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience processing raw reporting, including technical data, and develops concisely written all-source analytic products for a wide range of intelligence consumers.
  • Works across functional teams within the Intelligence Fusion Center to analyze and refine program requirements and continuously coordinate with consumers to determine appropriate interpretation.
  • Experience participating in DoD joint and U.S. government inter-agency planning and intelligence Communities of Practice, as well as in-depth experience with DoD and U.S. government intelligence databases and information management systems.
  • Proven ability to leverage databases to input data and extract trends from them; expertise in using mapping software to portray security/threat/intelligence trends.
  • Professional demeanor and strong relationship management skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); proven ability to interact with and effectively support a wide range of consumers, up to and including senior leaders within the Bank; excellent briefing skills and ability to synthesize large volumes of data quickly for multiple customer sets.
  • Proven ability to work independently with little to no direction; ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, to assess and meet deadlines, and to collaborate with analysts based in other regions to produce value-added intelligence analysis; ability to balance direction from supervisors in multiple locations.
