RISK Global Markets – Counterparty, Prime Services and Collateral team covers the all the :

  • Counterparty risks generated by any corporate, financial (incl. market infrastructure) or sovereign counterparty.
  • Collateral risks generated by Global Markets

Main responsibilities

Analysis and monitoring of counterparty risk exposures on selected names or portfolios, by:

  • Understanding the origin of the exposures (specific trades, products),
  • Designing, in close coordination with Market Risk and credit officers, of relevant risk measurement methods and stress testing , under both internal and regulatory context
  • Aggregating and monitoring, in coordination with Market Risk, across products and Business Units market risk sensitivities by counterparty, hence providing a transversal view
  • Be the central point of contact with credit officers and support RISKI2S and RISK Corporate by providing relevant analysis and organizing dedicated forums.
  • Define and maintain complex  overrides, on the global scope of counterparties, for exotic products
  • Review and analyses, from counterparty risk point of view all complex  transactions

Be the central point of contact for collateral within RISK:

  • Define and maintain eligible collateral policies and organize collateral processes
  • Issue recommendation to RISK I2S for non-standard collateral exceptional requests.
  • Define and monitor the collateral portfolio and concentration envelopes.
  • Define and monitor the adequate stress test
  • Define and validate the specific risk framework for Prime Brokerage activities

Analysis & monitoring of Economic and Regulatory Measures – including Stress Testing – linked to Counterparty Credit Risk on the global scope of counterparties

Purpose:

The role is exercising considerable expertise, creativity, foresight, and judgment to oversee the day to day monitoring of counterparty risk for BNP Paribas globally.

The Responsibilities

  • As an experienced risk professional in RISK GM Counterparty, Prime Services & Collateral area, manages counterparty risk in line with relevant policies, procedures and any relevant regulatory requirements or professional codes of conduct, to enable optimal business outcomes.
  • Presents independent analysis of counterparty risk topics in various committees (Credit Committees) and main position meetings and influences decision-making at the management level of the team for monitoring and mitigating current and future risk both internally and externally.
  • Uses specialized counterparty & market risk knowledge and sophisticated analytical thought to identify innovative solutions to complex problems and perform risk assessments on large or exotic portfolios or transactions.
  • Under the supervision of senior members of the team, design in close collaboration with Front Office/Market Risk Teams relevant stress-tests on a regular and ad-hoc basis. Analyse results to issue recommendations on market risk sensitivities by counterparty.
  • Participate as a key contributor in initiatives related to stress test review / counterparty portfolio analysis; ensures timely delivery of the objectives
  • Delivers small scale projects or participates in larger scale projects as a key contributor of some defined objectives. This includes collateral review of underlying assets in credit or sovereign space (Corporate HY, ABS, CLO, Loans, EMK Govies)
  • Foster coordination between various teams on the RISK and front office; manages relationships with business stakeholders in order to fully understand business requirements, develop appropriate interventions to deliver a quality service to the business and represents RISK in front office common initiatives to improve CCR metrics, culture and framework.
  • Contribute proactively to the development of analysis tools. Foster mechanics and regulatory framework and assess their impact on counterparty risk management. Innovation within the team and challenge existing processes and methodologies. Contribute actively to the development of the risk management platform of the future. Anticipate future change in market.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory changes and requirements impacting counterparty risk exposure and capital (e.g. cross margining).

Perform independent analysis on BNP Paribas’ risk by counterparty type (Hedge Fund / non-Hedge Fund), by group/asset manager or by sector. This analysis is done at activity level (OTC/PB/DEC) or across activities. Analysis is generally focused on stress testing and liquidity of the underlying markets.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Professional qualification and broad knowledge of the theories and practices across the Risk function and their interaction with each other combined with deep expertise in a specific area.
  • MBA / Master Degree/Engineering School in Science, Economy, Finance level qualification preferred.
  • Experience in the Capital Markets area (preferably with a previous experience in Market Risk)
  • Detailed knowledge of options principles (trading, risk management) and derivatives markets (products and markets) as well as IT Skills in Excel + VBA + Python or R.
  • Good working knowledge of professional standards and protocol and able to apply them to the Business to develop and improve BNPP processes and practices.
  • Good people management skills and an ability to work with individuals, to set objectives and manage performance to ensure delivery
  • Good commercial and communication / relationship management skills.
