To provide IT services in order for the various BP2S business units to achieve their respective corporate goals and objectives while adhering to local, regional and global BNP Paribas standards.

 

Position overview

The role of the Automation Test Lead sits within the Information Technology Team, which is part of the Information Technology division of BNP Paribas Securities Services (BP2S).

Reporting to the Manager of Testing Services, your first focus will be on:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert in the regression and automation area

  • Leading the test automation team located in Chennai (2 testers to start with) and guiding their work.

  • Building and implementing POC for projects with immediate automation needs: pControl upgrade and OneVue Releases and supporting them in their automation journey

This first experience will then enable you to build strong automation foundations by developing and implementing the test automation strategy with the support of the Manager of Testing Services, which includes:

 
  • Selecting the automation tools (from an approved toolset) based on the existing automation framework, reviewing/assessing its quality/performance and planning improvements if required

  • Defining the approach to the creation of regression packs and assessing what can be automated

  • Defining and prioritizing the regression and automation backlogs based on criteria such as high risk of defects, tedious and time consuming manual business processes, repetitive business processes, immediate project needs

  • Defining reporting standards

Once the automation foundations are implemented, your goal will be to expand automation and grow your team and your leadership skills by:

 
  • Maintaining resilient and robust regression and automation best practices that can gradually incorporate the use of lean agile and DevOps practices

  • Maintaining a detailed test automation framework and methodology
  • Coaching/training functional testers in Chennai to build up their automation skills and grow the automation capability within the test team.

  • Defining the engagement model with the project teams to identify automation needs for their regression tests

Key responsibilities

  • Implementing regression and automation activities
  • Estimation and planning – determining what needs to be done, who is going to do it, and when it needs to be done
  • Leading – carrying out the regression and automation test approach in order to achieve its objectives. Activities include:
    • Lead by example
    • Setting team direction
    • Providing technical leadership / training
    • Coordinating activities across different organisational functions
    • Motivating test team members
    • Assigning work
    • Ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures to support the achievement of project and department objectives
  • Controlling – keep your approach and stream on track by:
    • Defining baselines
    • Tracking test progress, test status reporting
    • Determining and taking corrective actions
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Working with project managers and project team (developers, testers, service delivery, etc.)
    • Business partnering
    • Working with client and vendors
    • Primary contact point for regression and automation
    • First point of escalation and resolution for any regression and automation test related issues
  • Quality Management:
    • Ensure appropriate corporate tools are used
    • Defect monitoring including reporting and co-ordination tasks.
    • Facilitates test reviews to ensure software delivered is satisfying the requirements
    • Meet the requirements of ISAE3402 and other audits, by ensuring compliance with the project methodology and with policies


Qualification / experience

Required

  • 2 years + Experience in leading a small automated test team
  • 5 year + Experience of automated testing implementation experience;
  • 2 years + Relevant IT or Financial services experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field
  • Must have proven experience in developing automation suite from scratch.

  • Vast knowledge of automation testing techniques

  • Extensive experience working with test automation tools (Mandatory UFT/QTP, Selenium) and test management tools (HP QC/ALM, JIRA, TFS)

  • Familiarity with DWH (TSQL/TSQLT), IA (Biztalk, XLST), Web (C#.Net, ASP.Net, .Net Core), SSRS, SSIS.

  • Capable of working with project teams to assess their automation needs
  • Must have good analytical skills and proven experience in analyzing and writing automation scripts for complex business rules and rule engines
  • Experience working with an offshore/distributed team;
  • Encourage effective teamwork through collaboration, enabling the sharing of skills, experience and ideas
  • Strong test plan organization and test execution planning skills in a CI and Agile environment
  • Excellent technical communication skills, problem solving aptitude, and out-of-the box thinking
  • Passionate about the work, proactive work ethic, and highly motivated attitude to provide excellence in software quality
  • Good self-management skills

Desirable:


  • Familiarity with DevOps, Lean Agile style and traditional project methodologies
  • Strong appreciation of production responsibilities within an international financial institution;
  • Knowledge of custodian and/or funds management administration;
