Position Purpose

The officer will be in charge of confirmation drafting for IRD (English and French) liaising with sales, trading, relationship managers, trade processing team and legal team


Direct Responsibilities


  • Draft and validate IRD ISDA/AFB confirmations (French & English) by referencing booking systems and term sheets for both financial institutions and corporate clients on Trade date
  • Ensure confirmations are sent or suppressed in accordance with procedure
  • Ensure accurate completion of drafting tasks within the internal service level agreements, client requirement and regulatory timelines
  • Chasing for confirmations of trade economics /existence of deals by email/Phone as per EMIR Guidelines.
  • Indexing the Signed confirmations received from Counterparts in our internal systems.
  • Ensure all correspondences are indexed into system to allow for future data retrieval
  • Matching of Trade Economics between Internal systems, our confirmations and Prime Brokers/Counterparty statements
  • Resolving the economic discrepancies by liaising with counterparty point of contact, front desk, middle office and trader for evidence such as trade recap, broker confirmation and timely closing of Litigations
  • Responsible for interpreting confirmation language and engaging Legal and/or Front Office’s advice as necessary
  • Partner with internal stakeholders such as legal counsels, marketers, back office, structurers to resolve booking errors, clarify trade terms, and other processing issues
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions to internal stakeholders to address confirmation related issues, process inefficiencies, etc
  • Keep up to date with ISDA/AFB and market developments, and liaise with internal stakeholders as necessary 



Contributing Responsibilities

  • Ensure that day-to-day activities performed comply with internal and external regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Ensure appropriate escalation to management and/or permanent control (or compliance as appropriate) as soon as an issue is identified.
  • Ensure that documentation controls are done daily, comments detailed clearly, and be responsible for reliability of records
  • Ensure set KPIs are met
  • Contribute to the quality of the team by:

·         keeping personal training up to date

·         highlighting processing improvement opportunities

·         assisting in the training of new entrants

Technical & Behavioral Competencies


Technical competencies:

  • Fluent in French (Written & Oral)
  • Strong Derivative product knowledge (Interest Rate Derivatives, Inflation Derivatives, Structured Derivatives)
  • Good understanding of trade cycle flow & risk management
  • Strong knowledge of ISDA Definitions and market practices

Behavioral competencies:

  • Analytical mind – be able to evaluate information from multiple sources and determine relevance to confirmations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitation skills with counterparties and internal stakeholders (middle offices, marketers, traders, credit and legal)

  • University Graduate / Post Graduate / MBA with good knowledge of Capital Markets/Investment Banking products.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Banking Industry.
