Associate-Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) and Sustainable Finance

MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

CSR has traditionally been responsible to implement best practices with regard to Social and Environmental performance in all the bank’s activities and stakeholder relations, in particular through the pursuit of the long-term financing of the economy in a responsible and ethical manner, along with best-in-class social, civic, environmental, and governance practices.
In addition, and in the context of BNP Paribas’ development plan of its Corporate & Institutional Banking division, CSR North America is in charge of leading the development of sustainable finance and investment solutions.  Sustainability has been identified as one of the four pillars of transformation of our CIB division.  The goal is to accompany more pro-actively our corporate clients in their sustainable development through targeted financings, and offer our institutional clients responsible investment solutions.
 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support CSR coordination in Hispanic Latin America (Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Chile)
• Support application of BNP Paribas Group’s CSR policies by relevant business teams, in particular including:
- Mandatory appraisal of clients subject to CSR policies in mining, agriculture, wood pulp, coal-fired power generation, nuclear, unconventional oil & gas and defense
- Application of Equator Principles to applicable financings and advisory to projects;
- Application of the CIB CSR Screening questionnaire for all other credit counterparties;
- Application of CSR Monitoring and Exclusion lists, and participation in Client Acceptance Committees when necessary;
- Application of CSR Excluded Goods and Activities
- Application of Generic CSR Control Plan
• Implement, train, and promote awareness of BNP Paribas Group Corporate Social Responsibility policies in Latin America
• Implement local regulatory CSR requirements when and where applicable
• Contribute to the annual CSR reporting exercise
• Support initiatives to reduce operation’s direct environmental impact
• Support Sustainable Finance activities and business development
• Communicate on CSR activities
• Provide insight on Latin America to the elaboration and update of BNP Paribas Group Corporate Social Responsibility policies

Ad hoc support to CSR coordination in North America, when needed
• Support the deployment of the Bank’s CSR commitments across the 4 pillars of Economic, Social, Civic, & Environmental responsibility
• Assist in the preparation of CSR events, including handling logistical issues (e.g. technology, Webex, video-conferencing, calendar invitations, event space reservation, etc.) and presentation design
• Support Sustainable Finance activities and business development
• Support CSR Community-led projects
• Contribute to third party risk management reviews on CSR issues for external vendors
• Monitor external developments in CSR and Sustainable Finance topics, surveying news websites and preparing ad hoc analysis or summaries
• Prepare reporting of various CSR metrics and activities
• Support CSR communication efforts
• Assist the CSR Regional Coordinator in ad-hoc tasks


TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Fluent in Spanish and English; French would be a plus, but not required
• Bachelor's degree required / Advanced degree or Masters preferred in Sustainability, Business, Finance, Marketing, or other relevant field.
• Good knowledge of financial and banking products as well as of BNPP business areas
• Good knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance issues across industries
• Flexibility and readiness to travel in Hispanic Latin America and North America
• Knowledge of and enthusiasm for sustainability and corporate social responsibility topics
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including outstanding PowerPoint skills
• High level of autonomy
• “Can-do” attitude to independently trouble-shoot logistical challenges often faced in executing events
