The role 

You will be working in a busy finance department consisting of approximately 30 staff at varying levels.  The team are friendly and work as a close unit, providing an excellent service to the professional fee earners (chartered surveyors).

You will be an active member of the financial accounts team and will have strong technical and analytical skills. You will have a solid background in financial accounting and have the ability to provide a positive impact from day one in this role. You will be involved in Financial reporting, Treasury and Accounts Receivable function and supporting the team where necessary.

 The role will be to assist the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager and the Accounts Payable & Receivables Manager, and as per the accountabilities as below.

Role and responsibilities

  • Perform the full treasury function – including monthly journals, bank reconciliations, monitor cash and loan requirements
  • Cash flow forecasting including weekly and monthly cash flow actual verses forecast.
  • Provide forecasting to FP&A team on loan interest forecasts
  • Quarterly and regular internal control reporting to Paris Finance Permanent Control.
  • Coordinate with internal/ external auditors to provide evidence/ explanation they may require during the course of their annual audit.
  • Monthly journal postings and reconciliations, and maintaining integrity of nominal ledger.
  • Support quarterly group reporting through Matisse/ Magnitude.
  • Assist in preparation of annual Financial Statements on a timely manner and compliant with FRS101.
  • Accounting of fixed assets including maintaining the register, monthly postings, reconciliations and classification between OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Lease accounting IFRS16, including posting of journals and reconciliations and various scenario analysis.
  • Provide forecasting to FP&A team on fixed assets and leases.
  • Maintain intercompany reconciliations.
  • Production of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Completion of National Statistics reports.
  • Liaise and support the non-financial members of staff, providing financial information and advice.
  • Ensure all procedures and policies for the finance department are kept up to date
  • Periodically undertaking audits, involving the examination of the organisation's accounts, analysing risk, inspecting the organisation's current practices, investigating any financial irregularities and recommending improvements.
  • Support and participate in ad-hoc projects as and when required.
  • Support AP/AR manager to manage system access rights ensuring segregation of duties are in place
  • Support AP/AR manager with system improvements and coordinate testing and training when new processes are rolled out
  • Support AP/AR manager to ensure all compliance requirements are achieved. Including Payment Practices & Performance Regulation reporting
  • Support AP/AR manager to monitor and report areas of non-compliance and agree actions to resolve
  • Daily fee rendering and control checks
  • Review company bank accounts and post cash into Microsoft GP Dynamics on a daily basis
  • Create Aged Debts for all companies and circulate to the business
  • Monitor the unmatched cash, identify the payment and post
  • 1402 suspense account reconciliation
  • Monitor the shared credit control inboxes and respond to queries in a timely manner
  • Prepare and post Return to Sender/ Pay Outs
  • Adhere to Credit Management Policy
  • Credit Note approval and special provisioning
  • Bad Debt Provision calculation and posting
  • Make payments via Bankline
  • Assist with any ad-hoc duties as required

  • Good skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) including V-lookups and IF formulae
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (will be required to communicate at all levels)

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter as well as working well within a team
  • Progressive, positive and forward thinking

Essential Qualifications

  • Training or Part qualified accountant actively working towards qualifying

Essential experience

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft office.
  • Knowledge of a windows based finance package such as Dynamics Sage or Sun would be preferable although not essential for a quick learner. Training will be provided on Dynamics.
  • Proficiency in data entry and management
  • Experience of Credit Control/Accounts Payable/ Treasury would be preferable
  • Experience of producing reports and financial statements would be preferable
