Tech Support and data Senior Analyst, Internal audit team

The position at a glance

The Tech support and data senior analyst in Professional Practices Team will be responsible for providing tools, technical and data analytics support for the internal audit department. 

The North America Hub is part of BNP Paribas’ global Internal Audit group (Inspection Générale) which is staffed by highly qualified individuals who perform high quality risk-based reviews of the Business, providing assurance, and when adequate advice management to anticipate and understand otherwise unexpected risks and put in place the adequate mitigating controls.

The Internal Audit team helps senior management to protect the company’s reputation by avoiding financial and reputational damage. Where it is too late to prevent failure, the team investigates the problem, helps management deal with the after effects and establish guards against re-occurrence. 

In detail

  • Core responsibilities related to the management of the audit workpaper tool (TeamMate+) include:
    • Managing user access to TeamMate+. 
    • Creation of stores of information, both from scratch and from existing data (TeamStore).
    • Create workpaper templates (administrative and working templates for individual audits).
    • Extracting reports (control matrix, time reports, etc.)
    • Setting up audit plans and audits.
    • Setting up time categories for time tracking.
    • Setting up workflow rules (i.e. number of approvals for a specific item, etc.).
    • Support the North American Audit Teams TM+ usage.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with Global TM+ team in Paris to stay up to date with changes to the tool and be able to communicate how the changes will impact the local teams.
    • Provide periodic training to the local audit department on changes or updates to TM+.
    • Provide new hire training on TM+.
  • Responsibilities related to data analytics:
    • Maintain and enhance current Data Analytics methodology to improve quality of audits.
    • Define, standardize, coordinate, execute, and document data analytics test cases for audits and continuous monitoring efforts with a scope of North America.
    • Clearly communicate to help epromote buy-in from across audit lines and keep all analytics champions engaged, motivated, and focused on delivering results.
    • Plan and develop reusable use cases that can be re-used locally across audits and globally across hubs.
    • Propose automation and enhancement opportunities to process testing to create efficiencies on audit assignments.
    • Assist field auditors in the audit of the bank processes based on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
    • Contribute to local and global data science/automation projects for Inspection Generale.
    • Create and deliver trainings relating to data science and emerging technologies to encourage auditors to enhance their skills.
    • Create, track, and maintain KPIs related to Data Analytics usage within Inspection Generale North America.
  • Responsibilities related to managing the different tools within the audit department:
    • Manage access rights.
    • Manage data storage, such as enforcing data retention requirements.
    • Communicate Monthly Tools & Tech Reminders relating to the different IG tools and technology.
    • Manage SharePoint sites.
    • Assign and report on Recommendations for North America

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

Minimum Required Qualifications :

·       Recent experience providing technical and tools support at a departmental level.

·       Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related field.

·       `6-9 years of experience, including audit and/or finance experience

·       Prior experience in an internal audit, database management, and data science.

·       Mid-level IT skills – SQL knowledge, database schema knowledge, understanding of Internet Information Server (IIS), .aspx language used for IIS, and Microsoft Windows in general (especially for trouble shooting).

·       Must be able to diagnose a problem (i.e., whether it is related to IT or the application). Mid-level understanding of MS Office and programming skills for extended reporting.

·       Ability to apply technical logic to solve problems and an ability to understand database layouts and features.

·       Mid to advanced level skills with different visualization tools – mainly PowerBI, PowerQuery, & Tableau.

·       Mid to advanced level skills in coding – having worked regularly with Python or equivalent languages.

·       Mid-level knowledge with Data Science concepts (KNN, Isolation Forest, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence) – having used these concepts among others on projects.

·       Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships. Should be able to speak and write at a technical level as well as at an executive level as interactions will be with IT and non-IT staff and executives.

·       Priority management and multi-tasking

·       Ability to readily grasp business and technical fundamentals

·       Ability to train sizable groups and coordinate with various stakeholders.

·       Ability to demonstrate business tactical and strategic thinking, innovation and creativity

·   Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English language is required.

Preferred Qualifications :

·       Advanced Degree

·       Experience working in large global financial services organization (preferably Investment Banking / Asset Management)

·       Strong Enthusiasm and energy for Data Science
