Rural - Associate Director / Senior Associate Director, Oxford.
An outstanding opportunity has arisen through the growth of the existing client base for an individual to become a key member of the Farming & Land Management team in Oxford, which forms part of the wider Cotswolds Consultancy Department.
The current team of 13 in the Oxford Rural Department team undertake the management of several local estates & farms, as well as offering a range of professional services to a significant number of consultancy clients. Their technical excellence ensures an impressive client base and they advise on some of the most prestigious clients in the area. The role will be a blend of Farm & Estate Management and professional advice working within a team which is able to offer a range of specialist rural property advice.
The role is intended to cover all the areas of this work, with opportunities to become involved in a wide variety of consultancy services including renewable energy advice, farm business & subsidy advice and diversification & planning opportunities for rural clients. There is also an opportunity to lead and develop junior members of the team, who will be available to provide support in this role.
This is an exciting time for rural consultants, with clients requiring advice in a rapidly changing environment as a result of changes to Government policy and shifting national and global trends. There have never been so many demands on rural land, leading to increasing threats and opportunities for our clients.
Key deliverables
- Acting as principal agent for a selection of key clients, offering best in class advice.
- Undertaking business reviews with a clear understanding of asset performance.
- Advising on and identifying diversification projects for clients.
- Secured lending and other professional valuations.
- Farm subsidy and grant application for a range of businesses’.
Responsibilities
- Managing and leading a high performing team, with direct oversite of a graduate’s development.
- Maintain and help to develop a strong client base.
Key Skill
- Competent and experienced MRICS qualified rural surveyor ideally 4-7yrs PQE with experience of delivering work across a range of projects and asset classes.
- Demonstrate team leadership potential, assisting with the development of colleagues with less experience, helping to develop their careers and professional experience.
- Ability to build relationships with existing & new clients - generating new opportunities.
- Possess a composed manner in order to be able to work under pressure.
- Good time management and ability to prioritise with complex workloads. Ability to meet deadlines, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills - must be capable of building and maintaining good relationships with team members, other colleagues and clients.
- A desire to learn and develop areas of knowledge which are of benefit to our client base.
- An understanding of confidentiality issues and the use of discretion.
- Business acumen, friendly and Illiterate with commercial instincts.
Qualifications
- RICS qualified essential, with CAAV qualifications also considered beneficial.
- RICS Registered Valuer status also desirable.
- Full UK Driving Licence
Experience
- Demonstrate experience of acting as the key point of contact for clients.
- Ideally would have experience of both land and farm management matters, either in hand or with another consultancy firm.
- Previous experience of working to deadlines, managing a complex case load and running your own diary efficiently.
- Managing and developing a team around you, with the ability to help grow talent within the business.
- Ideally the candidate will have a diverse professional background with experience across the spectrum of professional services, in order to assist with the firms varied client base.
- Proven track record of developing business through establishing new client relationships
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel & PowerPoint
