Financials Controls Group (FCG) Description:

The FCG is a transversal function within BNP Paribas Americas (the Bank) in charge of the 2nd line of defense activities over the Bank’s veracious financial and regulatory operations for its Retail, Corporate, and Institutional Banking activities with the Americas region. FCG’s mission is to provide independent risk assessment and 1st line of defense operating effectiveness validation function to support the Bank management’s attestations to US and European public and regulators. FCG achieve this objectives through the execution of various programs tailored to each objective supporting the attestation (i.e. Internal Control over Financial Reporting and Compliance (ICFR&C), Regulatory Reporting Quality Assurance (RRQA), Group Control Validation, and IT and Data Control Validation.

  • to develop and implement a strong accounting control framework for CIB Banking and non-Banking entities (such as Personal Finance entities for example),
  • to perform 2nd level of controls for controls primary run by other Finance and non-Finance teams
  • to report on main controls areas, for both local and central needs and requirements

The Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with Group and Head Office controls guidelines and expanding to adapt with an ever-changing Control environment. The Group works closely with not only Finance and Tax department but with other functions on NA to provide value added analysis and advisory services to its clients in the areas of accounting control.

Position Summary:

The Senior Control Analyst position is within the Group Control Validation team. The team is primarily responsible for developing and execute validation programs over internal control framework in accordance with the policies and procedures issued by the BNP Paribas Group. Main business line covered by this position is International Retail Banking within US, and the senior control analyst will be working with various line of business and products offered by the Bank in US.

The Senior Control Reviewer coordinates and contributes to the production of standardized controls dashboards/ summary reporting for key risks indicators that are communicated to Finance, Regional and Central Managements. In addition, the position acts as a consultant/project leader to assist various Functions in providing short term solutions in mitigating control related issues as well as formation and implementation of long term preventive solutions.


At the end of accounting period:

  • Review and test the effectiveness of the controls performed by various NA functions
  • Monitoring the account justification 2nd level review
  • Contributing to key Group accounting control reporting and ad hoc control memo upon request when an issue is identified.

Ongoing responsibilities:

  • Implement the control standard set up according to group instructions to different entities under scope.
  • Develop the accounting control framework by reviewing, identifying, and documenting accounting controls in place for NA functions (i.e. Middle Office, Back Office, Accounting)
  • Contribute to the performance of 2nd level accounting controls on a list of key areas defined by the Standard Accounting Control Group Plan
  • Ensure the good coordination with the NA team, in particular whenever an accounting issue needs to be addressed
  • Providing short term solutions for mitigating control related issue as well as formation and implementation of long term preventive solutions


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Administration with a specialization in Accounting
  • 5- 6 years of experience in financial services, including a minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting control and in internal or external audit on financial services
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments and developed skills in analysis of business supporting processes from accounting control perspective
  • SOX implementation/review experience is not mandatory but will be considered an asset
