To develop the Real Estate Financing business in Amsterdam we are currently looking for a full-time

Real Estate Financing Director

as representative of the Real Estate EMEA team that is responsible for the coverage of large listed REITS or other investment vehicles and major real estate funds and asset managers. It promotes all products delivered by BNP Paribas and cross-selling essentially with Global Markets, ECM, Corporate Finance, Cash Management & Deposits, BNP Paribas Real Estate, BNP Paribas Securities Services.

The team is also in charge of the structuring of real estate specialised financing, their execution and distribution for clients, like PE Funds and Asset Managers for example, under REF’s coverage or under the coverage of other areas of the bank.

The position

In this role you will act as the relationship manager for allocated Real Estate Clients of the bank, and you will be expected to build it making good use of your skillset. The portfolio of clients is expected primarily to consist of large corporate Dutch clients, including prospecting with potential new clients to enlarge the NL franchise.

As part of this role, it is envisaged that the Relationship Manager will be supported by the Associate/Analyst(s) of the team.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as the primary contact point for any client need and maintain client relationship at all levels
  • Maximise the revenues and Client CEVA on his/her portfolio of clients: originate all relevant BNPP products together with Business Lines
  • Develop and grow a strategic dialogue with the clients, including at CFO level – maximises BNPP’s share of strategic business with his/her clients
  • Actively monitor and report corporate risks on the portfolio (anticipation of risk deterioration, quality of analysis and accuracy of information) – timely review of credit proposals / annual review
  • Act as SBO for the KYC on the clients, ensure KYC remains current, ensure other compliance and CSR policy upheld on the portfolio
  • Prepare Client Action Plans, together with Business Lines
  • Promote BNP Paribas with prospect clients, develop new relationships, convert prospects into true clients
  • Build an industry knowledge and a sectorial expertise
  • Adhere to the Bank’s policies and procedures;
  • Ensure that conduct is in line with the Bank’s Conduct standards at all times;
  • Ensure that all regulatory and commercial training is completed on time and refreshed as required.

The requirements

  • A master degree (or equivalent education/work experience) in Economic, Finance or comparable;
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and build new business;
  • Strong client coverage skills;
  • Demonstrated negotiation and execution ability;
  • Demonstrated ability to self-originate business and make timely decisions around the relevance of this business to the bank;
  • Sectorial expertise and financing activity experience;
  • Strong performance record;
  • Knowledge of the banks products and network – judgement to assess bank’s ability to deliver those products;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
