Position purpose

The role sits within the Change & Transformation department of BNP Paribas Securities Services (BP2S). This Change Team services internal BNP Paribas Securities teams (Client Services, Operations, Fund Administration, Registry, Middle Office, Taxation and Regulatory Services, Product, Transitions services) and external Clients.


The role of the Program Manager is to support:

  • emerging new business initiatives
  • client/business change projects
  • internal/external technical change programs and
  • various continuous improvement programs.

    The position requires the Project Manager to:

  • plan and manage IT and or Business project delivery (scope, schedules and resource allocations)

  • plan and manage solution architects, analysts, development, testers and stakeholders

  • plan and manage multiple and concurrent work streams
  • manage, monitor and mitigate project delivery and operational IT risks

  • manage project budgets and reporting (daily, week, monthly, minutes  as required)

  • manage communication (internal and external)
  • ensure BNP Paribas Securities guidelines and compliance requirements are followed

  • gain an understanding of the business as usual (BAU) technical landscape activities and critical processing period, to ensure project plans and solutions preserve BAU stability and maintain high standards of control

  • ensure training and operational handover to IT application and support teams is completed successful (KPI, SLA, upstream and downstream impact are documented, process documentation and procedures are robust and tested, etc)

  • ensure business operational readiness and training is successful delivered

    The Project Manager will also contribute in the  development of PMO practices across all team, identify and recommend process simplification and standardization programs

Key responsibilities

  • Client Interaction
    • Attend all client specific meetings – project, steerco, requirements, etc

    • Participate and communicate with the client daily – verbally and written
    • Developing a close collaborative working relationship with the client
  • Project Management
    • Project planning, management, quality and control.
    • Direct and indirect management of project resources as required.
    • Manage project risks, issues reporting
    • Act as an escalation point for work stream issues, stakeholders and project sponsor.

    • Map, manage and communicate project interdependencies and impacts
    • Manage all change requirements through a formally defined change management process.

    • Ensure deliverables are measurable and tracked
    • Ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
    • Manage clear and effective communications to team members and stakeholders.

    • To build strong working relationships with stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of business processes, an end-to-end understanding of operating models including IT system flow.

    • Drive operational efficiency across all program activities and solutions.

    • To undertake quality reviews of project deliverables to ensure they meet business needs and requirements, and adhere to the methodology, standards, and strategy.

    • Preparation of Steering Committee papers and reporting to the local management team and other relevant business and client forums.

    • Ensuring the project team complies with relevant BNP project management methodologies, audit, security and compliance requirements.

  • Internal Governance
    • Attending all project meetings
    • Participate in the design of the data model
    • Participate in planning, budgets and status updates
    • Co-ordinate and support the test team in Chennai
  • Testing Support
    • Work with the client to create the deployment checklists
    • Work with the client to create the testing plans/test cases
    • Review and deploy the UAT release notes
    • Be first point of contact with the test team at the client as the test manager is based in Chennai – client starts work at 8am so requires daily updates by 7.30am – including updating and managing the client jira

  • Data Specific
    • The individual should have experience in dealing with large data sets and knowledge of HiPortfolio and DROs (Data retrieval Objects)

    • Familiarity with analytical capabilities such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx

    • Identifying POC’s that will add business value through the implementation of Alteryx

    • Developing the governance and framework to ensure operational readiness of new business technologies

    • Excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, work well in a demanding and dynamic environment to meet overall objectives.

    • Project management skills; experience with Agile, scheduling and resource management.

    • Ability to motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals.

Competencies (technical / behavioural)

  • Project Management
    • 8+ years project management experience within Financial Services Industry

    • 5+ years hands-on Technology transformational change experience

    • Waterfall and Agile methodology experience

    • MS.Project, PowerPoint - Advanced
  • Business
    • Prior domain experience: Data, Fund Administration, Unit Pricing, Superannuation, Life Insurance – highly desirable

    • Regulatory and Taxation  experience – desirable
    • Custody middle-office, back-office administration experience – desirable

    • Data management experience – desirable

    • Prior experience with delivering business Operational change and transformation

  • Technical
    • Prior experience in Dev/Ops or application/IT service management

    • Prior experience working with data warehouse, SQL, BI reporting, unit pricing, reconciliation and/or accounting software - desirable

    • Prior experience with process mapping, interface and data mapping

    • Prior experience in Environment Management, SFTP and infrastructure programs - desirable

    • Funds management experience - desirable

    • B2B client transitions, client onboarding experience

Qualification / experience

  • Degree qualified in IT, Business, or related discipline; and / or relevant work experience in a similar role.
