The European Advisory Group, part of Corporate & Institutional Banking, is a transversal team dedicated to support both the origination and execution of event driven transactions. It combines a large group of local and industry professionals operating throughout EMEA, nurturing a strong investment banking culture.

The successful candidate will play an important and accountable role in many aspects of origination & execution on corporate finance transactions for corporate clients and financial sponsors in The Netherlands. The Corporate & Institutional Banking platform and specifically also the M&A Advisory team in Amsterdam is currently actively expanding its set up and is looking for an outstanding individual to join the team.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Operate under the following principles; integrity, responsiveness, accountability, creativity, innovation, team work and taking leadership;

  • Lead and manage multiple M&A assignments from start to finish, manage client relationships and build trust with clients and other advisors;

  • Originate buy/sell-side mandates through the bank’s and his/hers own network;

  • Drive the strategic dialogue with existing and new clients as well as through managing the execution of complex and highly visible transactions;

  • Establish and execute strategies with Coverage and other business lines/sectors on how to win new clients/mandates/improvement of the standing of the bank;

  • Actively build the BNPP Advisory franchise and reputation in a coordinated way by developing existing relationships and building new ones;

  • Lead important pitches and originate buy/sell mandates through contacts and/or network;

  • Support VP, Associates and Analysts in improving their capabilities across the board and play mentorship role, ensuring constant improvement of skills;

  • Take active responsibility for executing part of our Client Focus Strategy.

Our ideal candidate has a strong academic background (MSc in economics, finance or equivalent) and at least 10 years of experience in a comparable position.

Skills and knowledge we require:

  • Proven track record in originating sizeable M&A transactions;
  • Proven track record in having end responsibility in executing sizeable transactions from beginning to completion;
  • Demonstrated ability in developing existing relationships and building new ones;
  • Experience in managing and mentoring of M&A teams of VPs, Associates and Analysts;
  • Leading client meetings and pitches and providing strategic advice and proposals;
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills and knowledge of accounting and financial techniques;
  • Excellent modelling skills (DCF, multiples, LBO model, Merger model, synergy analyses);
  • High level of energy, motivation and total commitment;
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English;
  • Self-starter capable of working independent.
