Position Purpose

BNP Paribas Personal Finance (“BNPP PF”) is a leader in consumer credit, serving more than 25 million customers in over 33 countries around the world, with an average loan outstanding of €91bn. Cetelem Business Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (“CBC”), based in Shanghai, a wholly owned subsidiary of BNPP PF, is responsible for the development of BNPP PF’s business in Asia.

In China, BNPP PF operates through two major partnerships: Bank of Nanjing in the consumer finance business and Geely Group in the auto finance and financial leasing businesses.  These two main pillars offer a full range of personal lending products at retail points of sale and car dealerships, and directly to consumers via branch network, direct sales, and digital channels.

In order to accompany BNPP PF’s growth in Asia, with a strong focus in China, APAC Compliance is creating a new position. This role, reporting to the Head of Compliance, Greater China, is twofold:

  • To ensure that the activity of CBC complies to the applicable policies of the Group as well as relevant regulations (especially for investment transactions);
  • To support the JVs in their definition and implementation of their compliance framework.


  • He/she is responsible for the Compliance function of CBC, covering in particular:
    • Professional Ethics
    • Anti-Bribery & Corruption
    • KYE & KYS framework
    • KYB when necessary (based on Group and APAC reliance)
  • With the support of APAC Compliance (APAC Domains & China Compliance) and in collaboration with CBC management, he/she defines the policies to be adhered to by CBC
  • He/she defines and executes required controls, for instance:
    • Regular reconciliation of broker statements with approved PAD transactions
    • Regular review of expenses and reconciliation with approved GIOA expenses if above the de minimis value
  • He/she works closely with CBC management on investments projects, contributing to the due diligence when required and ensuring that the transactions are conducted in compliance with the governance of the Group and the local regulations
  • He/she advises CBC management on local regulations and control requirements
  • He/she supports the Compliance Officers in charge of the JVs, advising on the management on compliance risks and monitoring the implementation of the compliance framework in the JVs
  • He/she facilitates or contributes to the governance in place (Compliance Committee, ICC)
  • He/she is responsible for cultivating and maintaining a strong Compliance culture within CBC
  • He/she monitors the regulatory developments, which may impact CBC or the JVs’ activities
  • He/she is responsible for maintaining and improving relationships with all relevant local regulators and authorities
