He/she will perform tasks allocated mainly to the Subject Matter Streams, within the Banking Products team, providing services for Retail Banking with a perimeter covering financing products.

SMS Banking Products are in charge of the end-to-end process of accounting flows for the products related mainly to money market activities, loans, guarantees, payments instruments (credit cards, mobile payments, direct debits, transfers, etc.) This department reviews the correct information and control set up for these products, securing the deadlines and the accounting control group norms in place. Additionally, it is in charge of the process of the IFRS9 impairment calculation for the financial assets, monitoring the exposures and extra accounting information required for the calculation; checking the integrity of the information sent to the general ledger.

Financial Accountants are involved in the day-to-day maintenance and control of the general ledgers for the entities under their responsibility associated to the assigned products or transversal scope.  When applicable, they coordinate review and potential adjustments with other teams. Additionally, they will have to ensure quality of data for all Reporting streams and be in charge of performing adjustments when needed in the General ledger.

Main responsibilities

Accounting & Control Functions

Banking Products is in charge of all financials topics linked to customers’ banking products – credit & cost of risk, payments, deposit, customer securities, fees, other provisions, related sundry accounts, etc.

  • Measure and book the required adjustments in accounting to ensure completion and accurateness through all reporting axes, including the segmented axis
  • Review & perform the Suspense Provisioning and the rest of legal and tax provision
  • Ensure the oversight of accounting controls performed by Back Offices (APAC) based on their monthly control results & quarterly sub-certification
  • Control and analyse the data that contribute to the regulatory reporting (Matisse allocations, BMRC feeding, Accounting to Risk reconciliation, Local regulatory reports, non-standard feeds,….) & the disclosure production
  • Provide Finance supervision & completion on LoD1 control performed by Back Offices operations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the data feeding done by the back office operation tools related to Corporate Accounting & Expenses
  • Providing support to Back and Middle offices in all the accounting aspects required
  • Provide assistance in coordination with the management in responding to questions from the external auditors, Operations, and other support groups by:
    • Ensuring prompt resolution and follow-up of questions / requests for information
    • Escalating problems/issues to the team leader and/or head
    • Providing quality service to other teams

Projects, Systems Support, Operational Process Improvements

  • Participate in the Tac/Nac process
  • Participate in the upgrades/version releases of respective reporting tools
  • Assist in identifying operational process improvements in production, control procedures, and workflow organization to increase the team’s efficiency and effectiveness

Other functions

  • Observe the bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Assist in any special project or request as directed by management

REQUIREMENTS

Training and occupational experience

  • Currently studying would be mandatory, otherwise we will not be able to sign an internship agreement.
    • Business school, University Graduate, Master Degree in Accounting or Finance Degree.
  • Previous internship-experience in Finance within the Banking sector (Financial Accounting, Reporting and Business or financial analysis), including audit and consultancy firms will be a plus.

Languages

  • English Advanced
  • French very nice to have
  • European languages a plus

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Banking products is desirable.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, both in IFRS and French GAAP desirable) 
  • IFRS9 impairment calculation knowledge will be a plus.
  • High proficiency in computer skills and data analytics.
