In an ever changing world with a continually shifting regulatory landscape, Compliance supports the CIB and RB&S teams globally to deliver award winning products and services to their clients. Compliance sits at the heart of BNP Paribas’ internal control framework and is independent from the CIB and RB&S businesses.
 
In APAC, the Compliance function is being transformed in order to meet the requirements of a changing regulatory landscape in the Region and globally. We are committed to learning and, through our APAC Campus in Singapore, provide dedicated Compliance training and seminars to ensure our people are kept up to date with changes in regulation and best practices. As the BNP Paribas Compliance Transformation progresses, specialist areas, known as Domains, are to be set up that encompasses the areas of: Financial Security, KYC, Client’s Interests Protection, Professional Ethics, and Market Integrity.
 
BNP Paribas’ Head of KYC Compliance APAC will be accountable for the development of the KYC Domain within APAC.  A new budgeted lead management role to a team whose mission and profile has significantly been upgraded over the past few years, whose professionalism is well recognised by its partners and correspondents, and that regularly has to face new challenges in terms of changing regulations, business lines, and organisational structure.

Position Purpose
 
As the BNP Paribas Compliance Transformation progresses, specialist areas, known as Domains, are to be set up that encompasses the areas of: Financial Security, KYC, Client’s Interests Protection, Professional Ethics, and Market Integrity.
 
BNP Paribas’ Head of KYC Compliance APAC will be accountable for the development of the KYC Domain within APAC.
 
Responsibilities
 
I. Implementation of the target organizational model and of the Remediation plan
  • Overall reorganization of the function
  • Setting up the KYC Validation Hub in Singapore and Mumbai
  • Ensure industrialization of Compliance controls and validation of low and medium risk CIB KYC files without EDD for on-boarding and recertification

II. Carrying out Know Your Customers duties

  • Maintain Group KYC policies, including scoring grids
  • Accompany KYC policies' deployment in businesses (e.g. advise on translation into business procedures)
  • Co-sponsor projects related to businesses' workflow tools (e.g. definition of Group best practices)
  • Co-sponsor projects related to businesses' database improvements (e.g. database requirements)
  • Co-sponsor projects related to businesses' scoring tools
  • Define KPRIs for KYC reporting
  • Build reporting architecture and consolidate reporting on KYC
  • Co-validate control plan on KYC

 III. Management of the function

  • Budget and cost control
  • High-quality recruitments and succession for the key positions of the function
  • Motivation of the different managers of operational units through clear and shared objectives
  • Sponsorship of KYC tools, most likely on negative news IT tools (e.g. Alacra, Factiva...), as well as co-sponsorship of Risk Oversight and On-Site Reviews tools

IV. Internal and external representativeness

  • Representation of APAC KYC as a permanent member of the Compliance executive committee and market bodies
  • Establishment of professional and serene relationships with the other Domains and the other Managers of Operational Perimeters

  • Strong experience in KYC function in large financial institutions and experience with internal and external auditors. A good understanding of change management and aspects of project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of CIB and non-CIB business activities - markets activities and the general banking environment.
  • Sound knowledge of the international “Know Your Customer” regulatory requirements and landscape.
  • Knowledge of the Region and its organization, its establishments, and its Businesses
  • Ability to create virtual project teams across different areas and beyond and needs to be able to deliver objectives using resources not directly under their control.
  • Detailed knowledge of Governance, Compliance and Risk policies.
