Job Description Summary

Responsible for direct oversight of sales and service activities of specific teams of Small Business Relationship Managers Team Managers and Small Business Relationship Managers within Bank of the West RBG SME Division. Manages and strategically coaches employees to performance, strategy, goals and vision of the Company and division. Responsible for the following functions: Small Business Relationship Manager portfolio and sales management, business development strategy and activities, customer retention and cross sell, customer service, and revenue and profit generation. Business target market is companies, including sole proprietorships, with sales generally up to $10 million in annual sales.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides direct management and tactical coaching to SBRM Team Managers, Small Business Relationship Managers and Small Business Relationship Associates whose primary responsibility is focused on customer retention and deepening of customer relationships remotely. This includes joint calling and coaching.
  • Monitors progress on all objectives and goals. Accountable for achievement of loan, deposit, portfolio retention, customer service and fee income targets of the SBRM teams. Participates in the development of coaching tools, activity objectives, performance goals, sales and coaching protocols, performance plans, tracking and reporting tools, recruiting profiles and relevant training (sales, product, and credit).
  • Manages SBRM Team Managers and employees directly, including selection, resource allocation and performance managements.
  • Monitors variance against budget on an ongoing basis. Accountable for achieving positive or neutral variances to Small Business Banking related budgets for the team.
  • Conducts regular communication meetings with direct reports to communicate information, discuss problems, train staff, and provide a forum for discussion of pertinent issues.
  • Provides regular communication to Division Executives and Business Banking Management regarding the performance of small business teams, strategies, and tactics.
Other Job Duties
  • Gathers industry and market intelligence so that industry and market opportunities may be capitalized on as they occur.
  • Ensures that operating procedures are in compliance with the approved policies and procedures of the Bank with applicable regulations.
  • Provides Feedback and strategy around products and service enhancements meet the needs of the Bank's customers.
  • Participates in community and business functions/groups to insure a positive image for the Bank. Ensures compliance with bank CRA programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience
  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area.
  • Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
  • Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Admin, Accounting, Finance
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
