We are looking for a Business Analyst to work within the UK IT & Engineering team with specific focus on supporting BNP Paribas’ Investment Reporting & Performance Operations based in London.
The Investment Reporting & Performance (IRP) function provides Performance Measurement, Risk, Attribution, Solvency II and Client Reporting services to a range of Asset Manager and Asset Owners clients, and consists of the following client facing roles and teams: -
  • Service Managers and Performance Analysts within the Client Service Delivery Oversight team
  • Business Change & Implementation Analysts within the Business Change & Implementation team
  • Product Sales Specialists
  • Business Management, including global and local financial control
The IRP team is heavily client focused, interacting with our end clients on a daily basis across service delivery and client funded business change activities. They also provide a link between our UK based clients and Operations teams based offshore in Chennai and Warsaw.
The purpose of this role is to provide local delivery expertise for client changes, production, and small internal changes and projects to the following Investment Reporting & Performance Operation teams in London: -
  • Service Managers and Performance Analysts within the Client Service Delivery Oversight teams
  • Business Change & Implementation Analysts within the Business Change & Implementation team
The role requires practical experience of client reporting and performance functions, and ideally knowledge of the systems and tools used by the department.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide delivery expertise for client changes, small internal changes and projects, acting as an interface between IT and the client facing IRP Business Change & Implementation team to enable them to achieve their business objectives. This will include: -
    • Documenting new client or business requirements for new acquisition, reporting or calculations
    • Ensuring global IRP IT platform development teams understand the needs of IRP’s UK client base enabling them to design and implement effective solutions and estimate implementation costs
    • Conducting pre-production testing management of new developments
    • Facilitating roll out of changes to IRP operations teams in the production environment
The role does not include any direct IRP strategic or legacy platform development, with these activities based in global IT centres offshore in Lisbon, Paris and Chennai
  • Provide local delivery expertise to the IRP service delivery oversight teams on a scope of IRP acquisition, Solvency II, performance, attribution, investment review and accounting reporting production and oversight tasks run in the UK. This will include working side by side with the team to: -
    • Execute SQL scripts and other IT processes to enable the team to achieve their service delivery production objectives
    • Provide ad hoc system and process support  to enable the team to answer complex queries
    • Work integrate SQL script processes into standard system interfaces
  • Provide support on “light developments” on an ad hoc basis such as the creation of stand-alone VBA scripts and SQL scripts. Ensure macros or scripts will be created under the direction and authority of both the local IT management and global IRP IT management to ensure alignment with business standards
  • Overall act as the local London market representatives of the global IT team supporting IRP
Skills and Experience Required:
  • A background and proven track record working within or for a performance analysis and/or client reporting function delivering a regular monthly production cycle
  • A proven track record working on performance / client reporting related IT project work including new report development and / or business process re-engineering
  • Strong business analysis skills developed through practical experience
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills including VBA
  • Good SQL script writing capability and experience understanding database structures and flows
  • Competence using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Practical understanding of core performance methodologies & attribution methodologies
  • Practical understanding of ex-post risk statistics calculation (e.g. tracking errors, sharpe ratios, alpha, beta, volatility), and presentation of portfolio analytics and breakdowns for client reporting purposes (e.g. credit ratings, maturity breakdowns)
  • Practical understanding of financial instrument types, including derivatives such as swaps, futures, and options, and an understanding of accounting operational processes
  • Knowledge of Hi-Portfolio, Simcorp or Multifonds accounting systems
  • Knowledge of BISAM One and Vermilion Client Reporting platforms
  • BA or BSc degree or equivalent with an IT, Engineering, Financial or Mathematical discipline
  • MA or MSc degree or equivalent
  • Prince Project Management
