Position Purpose

 

The financial accountant is part of a team responsible for ensuring the Finance & Control department meets its Financial, Regulatory & Control obligations for all BNP Paribas Australian entities.

 

Direct Responsibilities

 

Controls

  • Execution of Daily, Monthly and Quarterly first level controls for BNPP Sydney Branch, BPAC, BNP Paribas securities Services and BPFSA (AU & NZ)
  • Monthly account justification for control purposes
  • Assisting Accounts Payable, especially with Fixed Assets
  • Intercompany recharges (contact with other locations, reconciliations, invoices,…)
  • Preparation of Budget and Forecast for general expenses
  • Prepare Fringe Benefit Tax returns
  • Overdraft justification
  • Production of the provisions dashboard
  • Ensuring Dolly, Surcouf, Paradigm and Management reporting all reconcile 

Reporting

  • Preparation and review of audit files for the external auditors
  • Assisting with / Preparation of the local statutory financial statements and Annual Statutory returns
  • Preparation of expense accruals
  • Headcount verification
  • Production / assistance of APRA reporting

Tax

  • Income tax accrual calculation
  • Preparation of quarterly tax effect accounting
  • Preparation of monthly BAS return
  • Preparation of weekly withholding tax return
  • Preparation of and /or assistance with GST returns, BAS, AIIR reports, IAS and DTA

General

  • Back up to Accounts payable
  • Assistance to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control.

Contributing Responsibilities

Technical & Behavioural Competencies

 

Core requirements for the role:

  • Financial services experience required
  • APRA regulatory reporting experience required
  • Ability to analyse and assess requirements and make suggestions and improvements
  • Experience of statutory account preparation
  • Working knowledge of tax requirements.  Experience of preparation of various tax filings
  • Ability to work to tight timelines and under pressure to ensure deliverables are achieved
  • Strong communication skills
